Mar del Plata is a festival with a very long tradition. It was created in 1954, and has been in held every year since. Jesus Miller, the man behind it, thought of it as an event that wouldn’t be competitive, but simply an exhibition of various international films. Many famous people have participated in it, including Errol Flynn and Gina Lollobrigida. The festival is held each year in Argentina, namely in the city by the name Mar del Plata. The Ministry of Culture of Argentina
This ministry was founded in 2014, which makes it a relatively new government department. It is, however, very supportive of the culture, and has provided various organizations with necessary funding. It is also one of the major sponsors of the Mar del Plata festival. The current head of this department is Pablo Avelluto, one of the best known Argentinian journalists.
The National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts
This institute was established in 1968 and is now best known as INCAA. It is a company funded by the government of Argentina. Its main purpose is to promote the country’s film industry. This is why it is one of the major sponsors of the Mar del Plata festival. Among other things, it provides ratings for movies that are shown on the national TV.
The International Federation of Film Producers Associations
This international organization is known as FIAPF. It was established in 1933 and is based in Paris. Its members include the above-mentioned INCAA, as well as some other Argentinian organizations. Some of its most important tasks include taking care of intellectual property rights, enforcing anti-piracy laws and media regulation. Apart from that, it provides funding for various organizations and events, including the Mar del Plata festival.
The Giovanni Rana Company
This company manufactures pasta. It was established by an Italian pasta maker by the name of Giovanni Rana and today is co-held by him and his son Gian Luca Rana. Although most people don’t know this, the Rana family is a great benefactor as well. They especially likes investing in culture, which is why his name can be found on the list of the major sponsors of the Mar del Plata festival. All of this is part of the company global strategy which aim to increase its presence all around the world, guided by Mr. GianLuca.
